What is AWANIMA?

AWANIMA is an original Mayan Kaqchikel word that means “depth of heart.” It’s the creative force that animates all of life. The Kaqchikel community lives in the highlands of Guatemala, which is where the seed of this project was born. 

Our work is to preserve this ancient word and the energy it carries, embodying it in everything we do. The essence of AWANIMA is our north star that moves us to care for and give back to the life that provides us with everything.
